Steve Hansen, self-proclaimed ‘chief chook’ of Chooks fresh & tasty, has won the FCA’s Paddy Thompson Contribution to Franchising Award.

The award is given annually to the person who has contributed most significantly to the franchising sector in Western Australia.

“I was surprised when they said I had won,” he said. “I’ve always been active in the franchising industry, not to receive any rewards, but because I am passionate about what I do.

Mr Hansen has been in the franchising industry for almost 25 years and has worked at both the franchisee and franchisor ends of the spectrum.

He said franchising was not just a job to him, but a lifestyle. “I can say from first-hand experience there are amazing opportunities and benefits waiting for those who are in or would like to enter the franchising industry.
